Jan 26, 2011 · No crank, no start, followed by lots of lights. Last night, while 5 hours from home, my truck failed to start. The gauges all lit up, but the engine would not crank. Nothing else seemed out of the ordinary. I tried 5-6 times, and then took the key out for about a minute while contemplating what I was going to do.

The PCM will not deliver fuel until the engine position is determined (cam/crank sync is achieved). Once engine position is determined, the cam is not referenced again. The pattern between the cam and crank signals needs to be of "good" quality in order for the PCM to be happy. No lights or DTCs unless the issue occurs two times in a row. Basically you will need to confirm that the system is receiving the command from the ignition node. This can be confirmed by connecting with a scan tool to check it's status when turning the key. If the status matches then you know the issue is in the CAN BUS wiring between the node and the TIPM or a failed TIPM. If the starter does work and the engine cranks at adequate RPM, be sure there is adequate fuel in the fuel tank and that the fuel is not old. Download any OBD-II trouble codes that have been stored and examine those codes for diagnostic clues.
