Using a drill (chuck the nail to the drill), I took some metal off the head and cut to proper length with a Dremel cutting wheel. I had to file the diameter of the head a tad too.

Also, there are some posts about putting a stop in the front of the trigger to limit the forward travel after it resets. Again, that would shorten the over all length of the trigger pull. It sounds like you have a damaged, worn, fouled, or out of spec extractor or chamber, if , in fact, the pistol is at fault. Only a close inspection by a gunsmith will answer that. The design of the original P-32 dictates that the shooter must allow the trigger to return to the fully-forward position after each individual shot. During the release, an attentive shooter can feel two distinct "clicks". Once the second click is felt, the trigger is reset and ready to fire again.
