The thing is BG3 nerfed the range of most weapons to 50ft, which for the longbow who was reaching to 150ft (even 600ft with sharpshooter) is a massive nerf. Meanwhile the hand crossbow who had a normal range of 30ft has been buffed to 40ft, and has lost its Loading property. Also you can dual wield them without the crossbow feat now.
