Thinking about a Glock 30S or a Shield .45 2.0. I have mags and holsters for both. Have carried a 30 before, and a Shield 9 Plus, so pretty familiar. Both about the same size, clearly the Glock is a little thicker and the Shield under and inch in width. The Glock has the advantage of taking G21 mags for backup. I recently compared the Gen 4 G30, a G30 SF, and a G30s all side by side. All were new in the box, were blue labels and were priced exactly the same.The Glock 30S has the same measurable stats as the other two handguns, with one key difference. The Glock 30S is built on a 30SF frame, but it has a smaller slide. This slide reduces the amount of metal in the handgun, which reduces the weight of the handgun to only 22.95 ounces when unloaded.
I now have the G30S that has become one of my primary carry guns, especially in cooler weather. The thinner slide does make a difference. If you have large hands, I use the 10 round mags for pinky support. As someone else said, the 30S has a short frame although I never noticed the difference.Had an extended range session with the 30S, actually got to really compare the 30S to my other 45's. From my understanding, the 30 gen 4 has the same grip dimensions as the 30SF if you don't use a backstrap attachment. Also, the 30SF has the dual recoil spring assembly which is also included in the Gen 4 models. I recently bought a HK 45c to replace the Glock for carry, it is slimmer and I hope it conceals better as soon as I get a holster (VM II on order). The 30S is thinner but the 30 eats about all the recoil. Pick either of them and you won't be wrong.
