Lyft doesn’t lay off or fire any drivers unless the driver has given them a reason. Labor shortages, high gas prices, and car/service costs are keeping a lot of potential drivers off the app which is hurting Lyft. They definitely need more drivers to keep up with the constant demand, especially now that students are returning to the city. For that they will make maybe $3 if they are lucky.
