Unfortunately, it is the best. Slice and Sticky used to be a thing and even top tier over pierce in specific hunts, but the devs decided to nerf them too hard. The nerf doesn't even make sense now, since elemental is king for Sunbreak. The nerf to KO absolutely makes sense.As for the bowgun, use shara's or rajang's with sticky 3. Rajang does have more damage and paralysis ammo, but shara have both paralysis and sleep ammo. You can use rapid fire sticky 2 rapid fire if you want. I don't because I hate very high recoil. Even barring Narga's LBG, every other option has this beat in either clip size, or damage. This is where it gets a bit interesting. Magna's LBG with its attack rampage skill and long barrel can achieve 207 attack. Ideally I'd like a best dps ammo type, and a casual comfy ammo type to use. Spread is generally high DPS just like HBG if you can keep good uptime close to the monster, and you have a bunch of options for LBG (Spread 3 Evade Reload, Spread 3 Slow Reload, Spread 2 Normal Reload with larger clips, comes down to preference)

For Lbg you use powerbarrel, unless its pierce ammo. Both mods change your crit distance and its not worth the hassle, so you use neither usualy. Exception are monsters like the serpents, where you can play ez keep away. Silencer is most the time not a thing, but is mandatory for magnamalo sticky lbg to reach lowest recoil. So its case by case.
