The tecnique I use is simple. Release the weapon, rotate your hand around, 180°, and grab again. Move your wrist, not your arm. It's also important that you stop your arm movement before doing it. If you want to flip the weapon in the air it's just a matter of being gentle enough to not yeet the blade, but give it enough momentum to flip properly.

The menu button on your right hand opens the Oculus menu if you're using an Oculus device. Additionally you can open the Item Menu by holding your hand to your chest and pressing A.
