Shilen barrel review.
May 10, 2016. #13. Never used a Criterion, but I have 2 Shilens currently and one I recently took off a 6.5-06. IMO, Shilen are the most overrated barrel makers on the market right now. All 3 of the barrels I have are not much better to a factory barrel as far as I'm concerned. They also did a poor job lapping them which means they foul pretty bad.

My select match cleans up without a trace of copper while the other tends to have a small amout of copper in it. You will have to be a benchrest shooter to notice the difference in accuracy!Shilen makes 3 or 4 grades of barrels and I recommend the Select Match. It has the tightest tolerances and has proven it's self to be a performer. If the seller can prove it's a Select Match, it could be a good deal.

It's still shooting well but I'm starting to think about ordering another barrel. I shoot mainly at 100 yards with Bart's 68 gr Ultras.
