I also like to train with the same weight that I use in my defensive rounds. After trying 124 and 147 in both FMJ and JHP (both Federal) I like the 124. I have a case of it in the closet.

Jul 6, 2020 · Otherwise 124+P is the way to go. I’ve always heard that the shorter the barrel the lower weight. So in your 4+“ barrel and suppression, the 147 would be better. If you go down to a 3” barrel, 124 and +P would be a better option. I use 124 +P in my carry guns (shield, xDS, 43, etc.). I run 147 in everything.

It's hard to find 147 gr range ammo. Practice with any standard pressure ammo will do. So practice with .115 gr, because thats the most common range ammo, & carry 147 is fine. The only problem is practice with standard pressure & carry plus P. Because of the velocity difference.
