To reset the combination code, you need to enter the factory code provided with the safe, followed by the "P" key, and then the new desired code. This process should be completed within 5 seconds. The handle on my SentrySafe SFW123CS appears to be stuck and won't turn.
I had a Sentry safe similar to this one. It did in fact have a default or "emergency" code to open it in addition to a custom code that you set. It came in a pamphlet with the safe. That being said I don't know if every safe's default codes are different, I'd have to assume so.
