B10 is not necessary. You can farm a lower dungeon level until you have your tricaru on line. Artifacts are weird in that blue artifacts can often role to be better than legends. I haven't failed since getting my tricaru online, but before that every b10 team I built would have random fails.

For a starter tricaru you would want determination sets (mainly from crafts). You want any (ideally) 6* def% rune for slots 2/4/6 and slot 1 runes can have any subs (since no defense). The hard ones are slots 3 and 5. You can use guard runes or broken sets that roll defense on those slots in the beginning.Product description.
