It converts your 40 to a 9mm. It SHOULD work just fine with the 40 slide and workings. Breechface is not an isssue. Also there are few guys on www.xdtalk.com that have used 40 mags with their 9mm conversion barrel and it has worked fine. You can put a 9mm in a 40 but not a 40 barrel in a 9mm XDM.

I find that setup interferes w a good sight picture. So, you may want to change the sights as well. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Even fully loaded XDM mags with 19 rounds of 9mm seat easily into the pistol and cycle cleanly every time. It was evident in shooting fast ammo such as this 9mm at 1,150 fps that the lightening cut in the XDM 5.25 slide was causing the weapon to cycle quickly. I’m sure that with reduced-power competition loads, this pistol will shoot like butter.One of the drawbacks to this gun is weight. The XD (m) is easily the heaviest of the compact polymer guns at an advertised 28 oz. Compare that to the M&P 9mm compact (21.7 oz.) or the svelte Glock 19 (20 oz.). I'll spot Springfield a little bit since they give the weight of their gun with an empty magazine, but suffice to say, the gun is heavy.WE XDM is already out. Odds are slide would fit.
